Buffalo Public School 203 Olmstead - Air Handling Unit Solutions
Avoid the expenses of demolishing through 18” -30” thick walls in this early 1900 era school building. Optimize space usage in the basement area and avoid supplying multiple smaller units. Provide 100% outside air energy recovery units to enhance building air quality for the students and minimize energy use.
The engineer assessed egress possibilities. Creativity and imagination allowed the use of two above ground courtyard exterior wall openings (80” H x 100” W) to drop equipment pieces and crates 20’ down into the building basement areas. Watts Architecture & Engineering decided that an Air Enterprises SiteBilt approach would meet the challenge. Two new 30,000 CFM heat wheel energy recovery SiteBilt kits were dropped down into the basement areas and built in place.
